Bed Linen Sizes Explained: US, Canada, UK, EU and Turkey
Bed linen sizes are not universal. A “double” duvet cover in Turkey is 200×220 cm, while a UK double cover is 200×200 cm and a US full/queen cover is closer to 230×230 cm. For retailers and hotels importing bed linen, a size mismatch means returns, unhappy guests and stock that does not sell.
This guide compares the standard sizes used in Turkey, the US and Canada, the UK and continental Europe, and shows which Turkish sets fit which beds. All sizes are in centimetres; US sizes are also given in inches.
The golden rule: match a duvet cover to the size of the duvet (comforter insert), not to the name of the bed. Bed names like “double” or “king” mean different things in different countries.
Turkish standard sizes
Our bed linen sets are made to Turkish standards. Turkey sells two main set sizes: single (tek kişilik) and double (çift kişilik).

A Turkish single duvet cover is wider and longer than a single cover in most other countries. That makes Turkish sets comfortable for one person, but it also means they do not always match local duvets one to one.
US and Canada sizes
The US and Canada use the same bed names and measure in inches. American duvet covers are much wider than European ones because comforters are designed to hang over the sides of the bed.

Full and queen duvet covers are often sold as one “full/queen” size.
UK sizes
UK mattresses are 190 or 200 cm long, slightly shorter than in continental Europe. UK duvet covers are sized to the duvet, not to the mattress.

Continental Europe sizes
There is no single EU standard. Mattresses are almost always 200 cm long, but duvet and pillow sizes differ between countries. The two systems below cover most EU buyers.

In Germany, couples often use two single duvets instead of one double. Retailers there sell more single covers than double ones.
Which Turkish set fits which market
Turkish sets fit German-speaking markets best, work in the UK and France with a slightly loose fit, and do not fit standard US comforters.
